We pray for the captives

Of loss and loneliness

Of disease and sickness

Of pain and heartache

Of malice and strife

Of negative self-image and condemnation

Of oppression and subjucation

We pray for captives of impulses

Of addiction and lust

Of profit and selfish gain

We pray of all people made captive

In one way or another

We pray for their release this Christmas

That the sheer fact 

Of the celebration of the birth of Jesus

Will set them free in the name of Jesus

[Amen]
