So Bring Him incense, Gold, and Myrrh. Lyrics Excerpt from What Child Is This by Martina McBride |
Hampers or Bonuses - Christmas is synonymous with gifts
The tradition may have started innocously
With the Magi's gifts, a card company or Coca-cola
All I know is, Christmas is the season of giving AND receiving
Someone will give and someone will receive.
So this Christmas, I have been thinking of gifts
And how everyone has something to give
And how we do our giving
Whether we give sparingly
Or we give sacrificially
And I have been thinking of receiving
Of how we are all bound to receive some kind of gift.
And the way we receive it
Whether we receive grudgingly
Or we receive joyfully
In truth, Giving can be the hardest form of vulnerability
Especially when you are giving yourself
Just as Receiving can be the greatest evidence of strength
And when you are receiving another person's vulnerability
And when the gift is a creation of the soul
This is not just about giving or receiving love
It is about choosing to share yourself with the world
Through your art, your craft or your skill
It is accepting a person's essence as captured in art, craft or skill
Without belittling the gift through your insecurity
Insecurity is the bane of the Giver and the Receiver
It manifests in fear and procrastination for the Giver
It manifests in jealousy and harsh criticism from the receiver
But the Giver can defeat it by simply working on the gift
And the Receiver can defeat it by simply enjoying the gift
This Christmas
I say to all, you are a Giver by nature,
So work your magic, work your gift
And I say to you all, that your were born to receive
So open your heart and bask in the bliss of receiving.
Merry Christmas my darlings!
