I almost didn't exist
I almost was a miscarriage
But she was keeping the watch
She kept death at bay
I almost stopped breathing
The doctors even gave up
But she maintained the watch
She was death's caution
I was almost kidnapped by death
Illness and accidents tried to create doors
But Mother watched those doors
She was guarding against death
I almost did not thrive
Adversity attacked my spirit
But Mother watched and cheered me on
She was despair's restraint.
I was not defeated
The villains turned on Mother
But Mother stood firm
I was reason to live
As I watched over her as she fought
Encouraged and upheld her
She told me...
"I am a fighter"
As I watched her lowered to the Earth
Caught in the grips of grief
But her words continue to ring...
"I love you more"
My spirit and soul says today
I love you Mama bear!
I will always remember,
This fight you won.
HAPPY MOTHERING SUNDAY
