About Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday is celebrated the Sunday before Easter.
It marks the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem when a crowd of
people laid palm branches and their cloaks on the ground in front of him as
a sign of respect and honor.
At birth, we reach out
We raise our voices crying out
Before we even know where we are or who we are
We reach out and call out
Demanding the attention
Of a power we are convinced is out
there
To help us. Be with us. Save us.
In life, we search for
that connection
We are drawn to the idea of transcendence
Nursing a
longing for something bigger or greater than us
So we tremble and are
awed by things we cannot explain
Hoping that in it lies that connection
we want
And so sometimes we give our worship and adulation
To things
unworthy, ideas unworthy and people unworthy
So when we finally
heard of One
Good and Holy in all things
Living blamelessly and
reaching out in love
It triggered our innate desire to Worship
So
we laid down cloaks and palm fronds, called out and we keep calling out:
Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord
Hosanna in the
highest!
